Belgium

Regions

Belgium overlies the Anglo-Belgian Basin in the north and a small part of the Paris Basin extends into its southernmost tip.

The Anglo-Belgian Basin is not prospective for oil and gas whilst the Paris basin is poorly developed in Belgium.

No wells have been drilled in the country since 1981 and no wells have ever been drilled offshore. Globalshift regards the country as having no oil and gas potential onshore or offshore.

History

A few onshore wells were drilled in Belgium the 1960s, the 1970s and in 1981. However, the country has no other history of drilling, with no wells drilled offshore, and no history of production.

Globalshift does not forecast any future production of oil or gas from the country.
