The geology of land-locked Burkina Faso is dominated by Precambrian rocks of the Guinea Rise; a dome of Archaean metamorphic rocks over which lie metasediments and metavolcanics of early Proterozoic age.
Consequently, due to a lack of sedimentary cover, Globalshift regards the country as having no oil and gas potential.
Burkina Faso has no history of drilling and production.
No oil and gas exploration wells have ever been drilled within its borders and Globalshift does not forecast any future production of oil or gas from the country.
