North and Northwest Africa
The Cabo Verde islands are volcanic, overlying a hot spot in the Atlantic Ocean above the Cape Verde Rise. They are almost entirely composed of oceanic basalts.
Consequently Globalshift regards the country as having no oil and gas potential onshore and probably none offshore.
The Cabo Verde islands have no history of production and no oil and gas exploration wells have ever been drilled on the islands or in their surrounding waters.
Globalshift does not forecast any future production of oil or gas from the country.
