Jul 2019: Tullow Oil (operator, 35%) has completed its entry into Blocks 35, 36 and 37. A 3000 sq km 3D seismic contract award has been approved and acquisition is expected to commence in September 2019. The PSC covers a deep water area of 16,063 sq kms neighbouring Rovuma Areas 1 and 4 in Mozambique.
2018
Dec 2018: Tullow Oil has agreed with Discover Exploration to farm into deep water Blocks 35, 36 and 37 becoming operator with a 35% interest. Partners will be Discover (15%) and Bahari Resources (40%). A 3D seismic survey is planned for 2019. The area is within the Rovuma gas basin, productive in offshore Mozambique.

May 2015: Western Energy and Safari were awarded a PSC covering blocks 38, 39, and 40 in March 2014. The companies now plan a program of exploration studies including seismic interpretation followed by the drilling of an ultra deep water exploration well in the Mozambique Channel.

Apr 2013: Discover Exploration (60%), formed by the former managing team of Cove Energy, has partnered with Bahari Resources (40%) to explore an 18,000 sq kms permit west of the islands. The initial work program involves acquisition of seismic data and perhaps drilling over a period of 10 years. The permit lies 50 kms east of Eni’s Rovuma Basin Area 4 in Mozambique.
