Southern Europe
Regions
Tectonically, Kosovo lies in a zone between the Dinarides and the Hellenides which are the southern branch of the Alps. They extend south along the East coast of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas.
Most of land-locked Kosovo is thus mountainous and has an uplifted, eroded and highly faulted sedimentary cover.
Globalshift considers it unlikely that any potential oil and gas resources could have survived its recent geological history.
History
Land-locked Kosovo has no history of production and no exploration wells have ever been drilled in the country. Globalshift does not forecast any future production of oil or gas from the country.
