The small volcanic island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean lies above the Reunion hotspot which is also responsible for the Mascarene islands, including Mauritius, the ridge below the Maldives and the Deccan Traps in India.
Consequently Globalshift regards the territory as having no oil and gas potential onshore and offshore.
The active volcanic island of Reunion has no history of drilling and production. No exploration wells have ever been drilled in the territory or in surrounding waters.
Globalshift does not forecast any future production of oil or gas from the territory.
