Nov 2016: The country is keen to see a resurgence of exploration off its Red Sea coast according to the director of hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Energy & Mines. Most aspects of the 1993 PSA and model contract, as amended in 2000, are now negotiable. A licensing round is not likely in the short term but companies can conduct direct negotiations for the potential gas play in a rifted basin.
