May 2018: Total has filed an application to drill an offshore exploration well in early 2019, 150 kms from the coast and 170 kms from Cayenne. The well in Block FZA-M-57 of the Guyane Maritime permit in about 1,800m of water will be 28 kms away from environmentally protected rhodolith beds.

Nov 2013: Northern Petroleum has announced that the Shell-operated GM-ES-5 well, the final well of a 4-well exploration programme in the Guyane Maritime Permit, will be plugged and abandoned as dry.

Apr 2013: Tullow reports that the Priodontes-1 well has been drilled to a total depth of 6,318m in water depths of 1,750m and has been plugged and abandoned as a dry hole. The Stena DrillMax rig is moving to the Cebus exploration well.

2012

Dec 2012: Tullow Oil announced that the Zaedyus-2 appraisal well failed to find commercial oil or gas. The well, drilled 5 kms from the Zaedyus-1 discovery well, found reservoir sands with only oil shows. The well was drilled by the Stena DrillMax Drillship and will be followed by the second well in a 4-well program. Shell is operator of the Guyane Maritime licence (45%) with Tullow (27.5%), Total (25%) and Northpet (2.5%).
