May 2022: The new Paldiski LNG terminal site is to provide an alternative to Russian gas. The completion of the terminal will take place in 2 stages, 1st construction of the connection with Balticconnector pipeline and rental of the Exemplar FSRU located in Estonia or Finland. This can provide over 5 bcm per year of regasification capacity. The 2nd stage will be a permanent solution.

Nov 2014: Estonia and Finland agreed to improve gas infrastructure by building the Balticconnector gas pipeline between the two countries and an LNG import terminal in Finland. A small LNG terminal would also be built in Estonia. The Balticconnector pipeline is planned to be completed in 2019.
