2024

Mar 2024: ADX Energy (operator, 75%) and MCF Energy (25%) have discovered a 115m zone of condensate-rich gas in the Welchau-1 well within the Triassic-age Steinalm Formation. It is the same zone that flowed gas in the nearby Molln-1 well in 1989.

2023

Jul 2023: OMV (operator) announced the Wittau Tief-2a well is a new gas discovery in Lower Austria. Evaluation indicates potential recoverable resources of 28mm boe. OMV is considering options to appraise the field as well as a fast-track development using the gas facility in Aderklaa.

Mar 2023: ADX (operator, 80%) has been awarded a production licence by the Ministry of Finance for the Anshof oil field enabling it to drill 2 development wells in 2023 to add to the producing Anshof-3 discovery well. Test production from the Eocene reservoirs in this well commenced in Oct 2022 achieving a stable rate of 113 bbls of oil per day.

2022

Jan 2022: ADX Energy has suspended the Anshof-3 oil exploration well in preparation for completion with production tubing and a potential long-term production test. The well is located in the ADX-AT-II license in the Molasse Basin of Upper Austria.

2021

2020

Dec 2020: ADX agreed, with the Austrian Mining Authority, a 450 sq km license in the Molasse Basin surrounding RAG fields and infrastructure. It contains 10 drill-ready prospects and 70 other prospects and leads. ADX will commence a farm-out program early in 2021. ADX has previously acquired the Gaiselberg and Zistersdorf fields in the Vienna basin.

2018

Apr 2018: Russian gas imports increased by 77.2% in the first 4 months of 2018 after a record-breaking year for Russian gas imports in 2017.

Jan 2018: OMV has started the largest seismic campaign in the company’s history. A total of 600 sq kms will be acquired over an area stretching from the north-east of Vienna to north-east of Schönkirchen.

2014

Apr 2014: OMV is committing to oil and gas production in the Weinviertel region with investment rising to US$550 mm in 2 years. Resources are needed to counter natural depletion in the mature fields. In 2013 the region produced 35,000 bbls of oil equivalent per day. Up to 24 wells will be drilled in 2014, with 20 planned for 2015 and 2016 along with 14 exploratory well projects.
