Oct 2016: SeaBird Exploration will acquire a 2D seismic survey offshore Belize in October and November 2016. The government of Belize banned offshore exploration drilling in all seven areas that make up the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System World Heritage area in 2015.

Nov 2015: The Belize government will ban offshore exploration in all 7 areas that make up the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System World Heritage area. The Belize Barrier Reef is the second largest reef system in the world.
Oct 2015: New World Oil and Gas has announced that the Blue Creek PSA will terminate on 31 October 2015 unless an additional well is spudded before that time. New World is discussing options on continuing participation.

Apr 2013: Belize's Supreme Court declared offshore drilling contracts issued by the Government of Belize in 2004 and 2007 null and void ending the government's current efforts to allow offshore drilling in the Meso American Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world.
Mar 2013: New World Oil & Gas has raised US$9.5 mm to test and appraise the Rio Bravo-1 well which is targeting the Upper Jurassic Margaret Creek formation. It is expected to reach a total depth of 2680m by late April.
Feb 2013: New World Oil & Gas announced that its Blue Creek No.2A side track well in the Peten Basin in northwest Belize has come up dry. New World has decided to plug and abandon the well. The company's next well is Rio Bravo Well No.1 in the West Gallon Jug.
